Riverstone Massage Therapy School, LLC offers a comprehensive 625-hour massage therapy program in Twin Falls, Idaho, designed to prepare students for a professional career in massage therapy. Our program goes beyond learning massage techniques. Students develop a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, hands-on massage skills, client care, ethics, business practices, biomechanics, and clinical experience.

Our goal is for students to understand not only how to perform massage, but also why they are making specific choices for each client.

Program at a Glance

The Riverstone program is completed in approximately nine months and combines classroom instruction, hands-on practice, independent learning, and 110 hours of supervised clinical experience.

Classes are held:

Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00 AM–4:30 PM
Alternating Saturdays: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM

This schedule allows students to receive comprehensive massage therapy training while maintaining a schedule that may be more manageable for working adults, parents, and students balancing other responsibilities.

What You'll Learn

Riverstone's curriculum is designed to build knowledge progressively, connecting classroom education with hands-on application.

Students receive education and practical experience in areas including anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, pathology, massage theory and techniques, biomechanics and body mechanics, client assessment, communication, documentation, professional boundaries, sanitation and safety, ethics, business practices, and supervised clinical massage.

Rather than simply memorizing techniques, students learn to observe, communicate, think critically, and adapt their sessions based on the needs of the individual client.

Hands-On Massage Therapy Training

Massage therapy is a hands-on profession, and hands-on learning is an important part of the Riverstone experience.

Students practice massage techniques throughout the program while developing skills in positioning, draping, pressure, body mechanics, client communication, session planning, and professional client care.

Training includes foundational techniques such as Swedish massage and therapeutic massage, along with exposure to additional approaches and tools that help students develop a broader understanding of massage therapy.

The emphasis is not on collecting techniques. It is on developing the knowledge and decision-making skills to determine when, why, and how an approach may be appropriate.

Anatomy, Physiology & Biomechanics

Understanding the human body is fundamental to becoming a skilled massage therapist.

Students study the musculoskeletal system, major muscles and bones, joints, movement, body systems, and common conditions massage therapists may encounter in practice.

Biomechanics is integrated into the program to help students understand human movement as well as their own movement while working.

Students learn to connect what they see and feel during a massage session with the anatomy and movement principles they study in the classroom.

110 Hours of Supervised Student Clinic

Students complete 110 hours of clinical education, providing massage sessions to members of the community under supervision.

Student clinic is where classroom learning begins to come together.

Students gain experience with client intake, communication, session planning, draping, sanitation, time management, documentation, professional boundaries, and adapting a massage session to an individual client.

By working with a variety of people, students have the opportunity to develop confidence and experience before entering professional practice.

Business & Ethics Education

Learning how to give a good massage is only part of building a successful massage therapy career.

Business education at Riverstone is incorporated throughout the program rather than treated as something students only discuss right before graduation.

Students learn about topics such as pricing, marketing, client retention, scheduling, customer service, professional communication, expenses, basic business operations, ethics, boundaries, and building a professional reputation.

Whether a graduate chooses employment, independent practice, or eventually opens a massage business, the goal is to help students understand the realities of creating a sustainable career.

Preparing for the MBLEx & Idaho Licensure

Riverstone's curriculum is designed to provide students with the educational foundation needed to take the next steps toward becoming a licensed massage therapist.

Throughout the program, students build knowledge in areas tested on the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx), including anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, pathology, client assessment, massage techniques, ethics, professional practice, and safety.

Graduation from massage school and passing the MBLEx are important steps in the licensing process. Students are also taught to understand their professional responsibilities and the requirements involved in transitioning from student to licensed massage therapist.

More Than Massage Techniques

One of the most important skills a massage therapist can develop is the ability to think critically.

Real clients don't walk through the door with identical bodies, histories, goals, or preferences.

Riverstone students are encouraged to ask questions, observe movement, communicate with clients, understand contraindications, and make thoughtful decisions rather than relying on the same routine for every person.

The goal is to develop therapists who can continue learning and adapting throughout their careers.

What You'll Be Prepared to Do

By graduation, students should be prepared to provide professional massage therapy within their scope of practice, communicate effectively with clients, maintain appropriate boundaries and ethical standards, follow sanitation and safety practices, document client sessions, use effective body mechanics, and make informed decisions about massage techniques and session planning.

Graduates will also have a foundation in the business side of massage therapy and be prepared to take the next steps toward the MBLEx, Idaho massage therapy licensure, employment, or building a private practice.
